I was contacted by a woman who said “I am your ex M”. When I read it, I got a little bit freaked out. I thought “wait!! How would M find this place? She doesn’t even use a computer like that. Then again her name is M…” (no it’s not Mara). After I snapped out of it and read the rest of the message, she and I decided to have a personal conversation away from the main discussion sparked by the question of whether M would get a second chance if she was in fact suffering from a BPD freak out.
After this conversation it looks more and more like M does have BPD. I’m not getting paid to diagnose her so I’m not going to try. I do think that much of her behavior lines up directly with what Mara (and other people with BPD in the discussion) did. Mara characterizes her behavior as abusive. So that’s her word not mine.
I think this makes the response I got to my poem make much more sense. Mara told me that the line “You’re safe with me, then the mask slips and the relationship was curtains” really resonated with her. She thought the world of her ex until, suddenly he couldn’t do anything without her badgering and belittling him.
